Exploring the Northern Rhone; a Dard Ribo Tasting
Thursday 12th September 6.30pm
Wow! We've managed to snag ourselves an amazing selection of cult wines from Dard & Ribo this year - so what better way to enjoy them then a tasting night exploring the region that this dynamic duo have transformed.
Dard & Ribo are a renowned wine producing duo from the northern Rhône Valley in France, known for their natural winemaking approach that emphasizes minimal intervention. Established by René-Jean Dard and François Ribo in the early 1980s, this partnership has gained a cult following for their expressive and vibrant wines, particularly their Syrah from the Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage appellations. Their wines are often described as fresh, pure, and reflective of the terroir, with a focus on organic farming practices, spontaneous fermentation, and the avoidance of filtration or added sulfites. Dard & Ribo wines are highly sought after by enthusiasts who appreciate natural, authentic expressions of Rhône varietals.
These wines are under embargo for retail sales in the UK at the request of the winemakers (to try and stop the grey market price hikes) - so you will only get to enjoy these wines in a hospitality setting. Bottles in a restaurant would easily set you back over £100 minimum for the cheaper Crozes-Hermitage bottles - so we've had to price the tasting accordingly given the high value of the wines.
Our tastings are relaxed group events where we open a range of wines or ciders to explore a theme, region or style. We usually taste 5-6 bottles, with some snacks available too. The tasting and talk itself will typically take about 1.5 hours, with questions afterwards. After the tasting you're welcome to stay for more chat, drinks & nibbles if you'd like (closing 10pm).
